An FBI Identity History Summary Check, often referred to as a Criminal History Record or a Criminal Background Check, is a listing of certain information taken from fingerprint submissions retained by the FBI. If the fingerprints are related to an arrest on state or federal charges, the Identity History Summary Check includes the name of the agency that submitted the information, date of arrest, charge, and disposition of the arrest, if known to the FBI.
