David C. Godbey, Chief Judge

NOTICE OF JURY SCAM

You are here

The court has become aware of statements on a widely used social media site suggesting that court personnel have shared juror information with someone who is using the information to try to extort money. Such sharing is NOT HAPPENING.

Juror information is maintained in a secure environment and is shared only on a need-to-know basis in conjunction with court proceedings.

Jury scams have been reported across the country in state and federal courts for approximately seven years, and courts have tried to warn the public not to be duped by anyone pretending to be associated with the court or marshals service. Scammers contact people randomly. They do NOT use actual juror contact information. Frequently, the names of real judges and real court personnel are used to make the scam sound legitimate. Scammers also spoof telephone numbers to make caller ID numbers appear as if the calls are from the court or marshals service.

If you have questions, please read the jury scam information on this website, or contact jury services at 800-488-0903. Please do not call any judge’s chambers.
