This national program highlights the positive impact of pro bono representation and advocacy in the lives of victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse.
Guest speakers for 2025 include the Honorable Virginia Mary Kendall, Chief Judge of the Northern District of Illinois, and Stacy Schecter, Legal Director of Safe Horizon Domestic Violence Law Project. The program will be moderated by the Honorable Laura Taylor Swain, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

The Pro Bono Work to Empower and Represent (POWER) Act was enacted in 2018. Under the Act, judicial districts across the country sponsor annual events promoting pro bono legal services as a critical way to empower survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault, and to engage citizens and help lift victims out of the cycle of violence.
