Attorneys appointed under the CJA can access PACER at no charge (for those cases only). CJA users can use the same PACER account for private work and for CJA work.

CJA users must register at the PACER home page https://pacer.uscourts.gov. Counsel must check the “CJA” box on the registration form.

After submitting the form, counsel will receive an email from PACER with instructions on using the login and requesting acknowledgement of PACER's CJA policy. Once PACER receives the reply, PACER will designate it as a CJA designated account, and counsel can use it for exempt CJA work.
