VII. MISCELLANEOUS CASES

A miscellaneous case number is normally assigned to an ancillary or supplementary matter filed with the Court that is not considered a regular civil or criminal case. However, such a matter may directly or indirectly relate to a regular case. For example, a registration of judgment from another district and a motion for protective order via foreign subpoena are each opened as a miscellaneous case.

There is a $39.00 filing fee for a miscellaneous case. The filing fee is payable to Clerk, United States District Court. A document filed as a miscellaneous action is reviewed for conformity with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the local rules of the Northern District of Texas in the same manner as a document filed in a civil or criminal action.
